We chose to use 14k gold fill for our disc necklaces because of its top quality and affordable price. 14k gold filled is the next best option after solid gold. It does not flake, rub off or change colors. Gold filled jewelry is very durable, tarnish resistant, and excellent for people with sensitive skin. Gold filled is a United States industry standard that legally requires 1/20th, or 5% pure gold by weight to be mechanically pressure bonded in multiple layers of solid 14k gold with extreme heat over a core of high quality jeweler’s brass. This bonding process creates a thick layer of gold that is beautiful, durable and cost effective.
